Olivia Gerns is a graduate of Chapman University, with a double major in Music Performance and Music Education, where she studied the Oboe and Piano. At Chapman, she was the winner of The Chapman Orchestra Instrumental Concerto Competition in 2016, and received the Woodwind and Brass Chamber Ensemble Award in 2018. Throughout her college career, she toured in Spain with the Orange County Youth Symphony, and performed in Northern Italy with the International Lyric Academy. She was also a Music Theory and Aural Skills Tutor for 3 consecutive years in the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. While achieving her degrees, Ms. Gerns completed her music education fieldwork at Orange High School.
Post-Grad, Olivia has been able to pursue a multifaceted career
in the arts.
She served as a Music Instructional Specialist, where she worked closely with the band directors, and conducted their ensembles in rehearsals and performances. She also began streaming her music online, debuted her first album “Innocence.” As part of her songwriting career, Olivia has written and composed songs for dance choreography products to be sold to dance studios across the nation, and continues to do so for Music Works Unlimited. Her performance experience has included playing Oboe and English Horn in recording sessions, and performing as a pianist and singer at venues in Los Angeles and Ventura County. Currently, Ms. Gerns is an accomplished piano teacher, and educates students of all ages with her soon-to-be launched business, RosePedal Music Studio. With many irons in the fire, Olivia is also a classically trained dancer. She is adding to her experience by teaching tap dance and setting choreography for students to compete regionally and nationally.
